The Chisinau District Electoral Council will present the proceedings concerning the results of the June 3 mayoral runoffs to the Centru district of the Court of Chisinau municipality. During ten days of the receipt of the reports, the court of law will validate or invalidate the elections by a decision, IPN reports.
Within 24 hours of the adoption, the court’s decision will be transmitted to the Central Election Commission and the Electoral Council, which will publish the definitive results and will issue a permit to the elected mayor.
According to the preliminary final results, the candidate of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” Andrei Nastase won the mayoral elections with 52.57% of the vote, while his rival Ion Ceban, of the Party of Socialists, gained 47.43% of the poll.
The mayoralty will last for a year, until the local general mayoral elections of 2019.
