Suspended mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca will stay under judicial control for another 30 days. Such a decision was taken by the Buiucani branch of the court of Chisinau on January 5, IPN reports.

After the hearing, Dorin Chirtoaca said the measure applied by the court is useless and senseless and is announced once in 30 days and contributes to the delay of the trail. This is done periodically to make the people believe that Chirtoaca is guilty.

For his part, prosecutor Dumitru Robu told the press that the defense’s requests are abusive and groundless and are aimed at delaying the examination of the case. He said the preventive measures applied are needed to ensure the smooth trying of the case.

Dorin Chirtoaca is accused of passive corruption and acceptance of undue gains for influencing decisions in the case of pay parking spaces. He was arrested on May 25, 2017 and placed under house arrest in two days. On November 10 he was placed under judicial control. Dorin Chirtoaca pleads not guilty.
