A man and his female partner were arrested by the police on suspicion that they had robbed a grocery store situated in Chisinau's Centru district. General Police Commissariat spokesman Adrian Jovmir has told Info-Prim Neo that the 28-year-old woman and the man aged 31, who were living in the municipality of Chisinau on a temporary basis, planned the robbery beforehand. According to witnesses, the two had been in the shop for several times before the robbery, but bought nothing. On January 16, the couple was seen near the store again. The woman remained outside, while the man entered the shop. He threatened the clerk with a knife and took 600 lei from the cash register and the seller's wallet with over 2,000 lei in it. Afterward, the two went away. The couple was arrested about three hours later. In their home, the police found and seized the stolen money, two knives, a baseball bat, gloves and other things. Earlier, the man was tried for theft and drug-related offenses. The two face 6 to 10 years in jail.
