Those who passed through the center of Chisinau this morning had to wait for minutes under the hot sun or to bypass a number of streets owing to the traffic restrictions imposed while senior state officials lad flowers at the monument to Ruler Stephan the Great and Holy. Contacted by IPN, executive director of the Worm’s Political Club 50/50 Ecaterina Mardarovici said the country’s leaders should have found a solution so as not to block the streets.
“If they had found a solution, we would have appreciated it. The blocking of streets and causing of discomfort diminish the importance of laying flowers and they have thus to lose. They should have thought a little and identified a solution so as not to affect the population,” stated Ecaterina Mardarovici. According to her, someone could have laid flowers instead of the leaders so as to avoid the blocking of streets.
Ecaterina Mardarovici considers that the streets should be closed only when foreign delegations come on visit as they do so in the whole world. There are rules for ensuring the security of leaders holding particular posts, regardless of names.
Senior state officials on July 2 laid flowers at the monument to Stephan the Great and Holy on the occasion of the 512nd anniversary of the death of the Moldovan ruler.
