Three men from the municipality of Chisinau are suspected of putting €50 and €100 banknotes into circulation. They had been followed for four months and the examinations showed the banknotes bought during a control purchase were forged, IPN reports.

The suspects are aged between 25 and 32. Until all the circumstances are established, they will be investigated outside remand, the General Police Inspectorate has said.

The suspects are to be questioned. All those involved and other cases of putting of forged banknotes into circulation in the country and abroad are to be identified. The culprits face 7 to 15 years in jail.
