It’s harder to solve the problems faced by the people when there is a formal majority alliance on the Chisinau Municipal Council, considers the leader of the Chisinau councilors of the Political Party “Our Party” Elena Panus. In the public debate “Dissolution of majority coalition on the Chisinau Municipal Council: reasons and consequences at local and national levels” that was organized by IPN News Agency together with Radio Moldova”, she said that the Chisinau councilors should leave the political interests aside so as to work for the people’s benefit.

Elena Panus believes that if there was no formal alliance on the Chisinau Municipal Council, the councilors managed to do more things for the people. These alliances block the work of functionaries and no longer work for the people’s benefit because the discussions are held based on political terms.

The leader of the group of “Our Party” said that things needed by the residents of the capital city were voted in the last two meetings of the Municipal Council, such as the institution of a moratorium on the construction of several apartment buildings and service stations. The councilors of the “Our Party” are not against the oil businesses, but consider that the gas stations should be built outside the city.

On the other hand, Elena Panus considers that a lot is yet to be done to ensure transparency in the work of the Municipal Council. Also, there are many overdue issues that need to be dealt with by the current Council.

Two weeks ago, the agreement to form a pro-European alliance on the Chisinau Municipal Council was terminated.
