In the Chisinau Municipal Council, there is no place for politics and there is now no coalition on the Council, member of the Communist group and of the group of councilors without party Ghenadie Botnaru said in the public debate “Dissolution of majority coalition on the Chisinau Municipal Council: reasons and consequences at local and national levels” that was organized by IPN News Agency in partnership with Radio Moldova.
Ghenadie Botnaru stated that Chisinau faces a lot of problems such as the solid waste, kiosks and illegal constructions. To solve them, there are needed purely technical, not political solutions. During over half a years, many of the draft decisions discussed by the Municipal Council have been sent back for reexamination. “There are a number of draft decisions that have been discussed for over half a year and continue to be sent back for reexamination. The rapporteurs, who are municipal functionaries, do not even try to correct something and submit them again for consideration. We are drafting a number of decisions. One of them envisions the exclusion of reexamination because this is not a normal practice,” he said.
The councilor is convinced that cooperation between all the municipal councilors is possible because, regardless of the political affiliation, these pursue the common goal of solving the people’s problems.
As to the assertions that the majority alliance was dissolved in order to form a new one, of a different political orientation, Ghenadie Botnaru said he does not know about this and no discussions were held to consider forming a new municipal government coalition.
Two weeks ago, the agreement to form a pro-European alliance on the Chisinau Municipal Council was terminated.
The public debate entitled “Dissolution of majority coalition on the Chisinau Municipal Council: reasons and consequences at local and national levels” is the 51st installment of the series of debates “Developing political culture by public debates” that are held with the support of the German foundation “Hanns Seidel”.
