Councilor Elena Khrenova leaves Communists, joins Socialists
Elena Khrenova, a councilor elected into the Chisinau City Council on the Communist Party's ticket, announced today she was leaving the Communist group to join the Socialists, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Khrenova said that, while she still had doubts yesterday, she made her mind today after hearing “insulting talk” against her among her former group colleagues.
Communist group leader Boris Golovin said the group had received multiple complaints against Khrenova's conduct and it was the group that decided to oust her. Further, Golovin asked Khrenova to vacate her seat in the Council and give it to a Communist.
Elena Danu, representative of the Socialists in the Council, said she hoped that more councilors would join the Socialists until the end of the year so that they could create a formal group.
Elena Khrenova became city councilor in July 2012 together with two other candidates on the Communist Party's additional list, Victor Gurau and Igor Lupulciuc. They replaced Igor Dodon, Ion Ceban and Zinaida Greceanyi, who subsequently became MPs and later defected the Communists.
