Council of Observers will monitor restoration works on Kligman and Hertsa House
A Council of Observers will monitor the renovation works carried out on the Kligman and Hertsa House and the way in which the allocated resources are being used following a decision made by the Government.
According to the Government’s press service, Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev demanded that the Council should work at full capacity so as to ensure transparence in the process of restoring the National Art Museum of Moldova. It was also decided to select an experienced contractor and an architect in charge of the renovation works.
According to Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev, the reconstruction works must be carried out in line with the quality standards and by preserving the original architectural aspect.
Earlier, the restoration of the facade of the Kligman and Hertsa House located on Stephan the Great Boulevard aroused controversy. The critics say that after the renovation works had been postponed for a decade, the facelift given to the facade in 2007 was not in line with the renovation standards.
The restoration of the facade of the National Art Museum was completed on August 27. The building will be fully open by August 2008.
