Moldova’s Acting President and Head of Parliament Marian Lupu and Prime Minister Vlad Filat Tuesday had separate meetings with the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Mevlut Çavuşoğlu, who is in Chisinau on an official visit. According to the press services of the Government and the Parliament, the officials discussed the political situation in Moldova, the economic accomplishments, the progress made in the European integration process and the necessity of closing the monitoring by the Council of Europe and switching over to the post-monitoring stage, Info-Prim Neo reports. Marian Lupu said that in order to shift to the post-monitoring stage the Government will implement an ambitious program of reforms in the legal system, local autonomy, the mass media and other areas. Mevlut Çavuşoğlu applauded the results achieved by Moldova at national and foreign levels, expressing his conviction that the ruling alliance will identify solutions to the exiting problems. Vlad Filat assured that the economic growth in Moldova in 2011 will be maintained at the same level. “We want the people of Moldova to feel the progress we make. The social protection of the people is a priority for the Government,” he stated. The PACE President said they support the reforms initiated by the Government of Moldova, the liberalization of the visa regime with the European Union, and the efforts made to become part of the European family. This is the first visit by Mevlut Çavuşoğlu to Chisinau after his appointment as PACE President this January.
