Representatives of the Economic Crime Division of the Council of Europe came to Chisinau on an assessment mission to finalize a new project of assistance in preventing and combating corruption in Moldova. The project will be implemented by the Council of Europe over the next three years, with financial support from the EU, IPN reports.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Iulian Groza had a meeting with the Council of Europe experts. He welcomed the initiative given that the Moldovan authorities and society in general pay special attention to the efforts to prevent and combat corruption. There were underlined the needs in this area, as stipulated in Moldova’s Agenda of Association with the EU for 2014-2017.
The Council of Europe delegation will have meetings with representatives of the Delegation of the European Union to Moldova, the National Anticorruption Center, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Justice, the Prosecutor General’s Office, the National Integrity Commission, the Public Procurement Agency and of other competent national institutions and with civil society experts.
