An investigation officer was sentenced to four years in jail for passive corruption committed in collusion with a friend of his, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, a year ago the police officer, through the agency of his friend, asked and received €1,000 from a person suspected of fraud. In exchange for this sum, the police officer was to drop the charges against this person. The intermediary was a former classmate of the policeman.
The police officer and his friend were arrested a year ago. The policeman was recently sentenced for four years’ imprisonment and fined 100,000 lei. He was also banned from holding public posts for a period of six years. By the same sentence, the policeman’s accomplice was put on probation for a three-year period and fined 80,000 lei.
