The Extraordinary Commission on Public Health will assemble, most likely this week, to decide on the rules for starting the school year on September 1, announced Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița during a press conference.
The prime minister noted that there is an increase in coronavirus cases, mainly in Chisinau. Unvaccinated people account for 98% of the serious cases.
“We have made sure that the medical system is ready, that there are beds and capacities to face the new wave. At the same time, we are aware that public health interests and economic interests need to be balanced, so any restrictions will be imposed only if there are no other ways of managing the wave of infections,” said Natalia Gavrilița.
The prime minister assured that the imposition of a new lockdown would not be considered for now. She urged citizens to get vaccinated so as to avoid a wave of infections similar to the one seen at the beginning of the year.
