Cooks from 14 countries to make giant hominy with stew and sausages
Cooks from 14 countries will try to reach an International Gastronomical Record in preparing a giant hominy with stew and sausages for 2 000 persons in Chisinau on November 2, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Ministry of Economy.
The third International Gastronomical Championship held in Chisinau will bring together teams of cooks from Iceland, Cyprus, Russia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Turkey, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, the Republic of Komi, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Bulgaria and surely Moldova. They will be assessed by an international jury. Gissur Gudmundsson from Iceland, who heads the World Association of Chefs Societies, will be the guest of honor of the championship.
The program of the championship includes the contest of the cook of the year, the contest of junior cooks, the contest of thematic meals for weddings of different peoples, the contest of vegetarian, meat and fish dishes, an exhibition of chocolate, marzipan and caramel, presentations by chefs and the team contest.
There will be also held the Black Box contest that is considered one of the most difficult. Over 30 minutes, the cooks must prepare three types of dishes for lunch from products made available at the start of the contest.
The International Gastronomical Championship Moldova 2011 will be officially opened at the international exhibitions center “Moldexpo” at 1pm on November 1. It will last until November 4. The event was organized by the Ministry of Economy, “Moldexpo”, the Association of Catering Cooks Moldova and equipment manufacture MGM.
