Deputy Alexandr Nesterovschi, sentenced to 12 years in prison, is not on the territory of Ukraine or Romania, according to Minister of Internal Affairs Daniela Misail-Nichitin, who confirmed this information with colleagues from both countries, IPN reports.
"The police acted very swiftly. They mobilized and took all necessary investigative measures. In record time, Mr. Nesterovschi was placed on an international wanted list," the minister stated during the TVR Moldova program „Punctul pe Azi”.
The official confirmed that the deputy also holds Russian Federation citizenship.
"All hypotheses are being analyzed, including the possibility that he is on the territory of the Russian Federation's Embassy (in Chisinau), but this information has not been confirmed," Daniela Misail-Nichitin specified.
Deputy Alexandr Nesterovschi was sentenced to 12 years in a high-security prison and fined 500,000 lei. The decision was pronounced on March 19, 2025, by the Chisinau Court, Buiucani branch. Nesterovschi was found guilty of large-scale passive bribery in the interest of an organized criminal group and of preparing the financing of political parties from sources prohibited by law.
At the time of sentencing, Nesterovschi was not present in the courtroom, and his current whereabouts remain unknown.
