The conventional unit on March 16 increases from 20 to 50 lei in the cases stipulated by the Contravention Code.

Contacted by IPN, head of the Protocol, Information and Mass Media Division of the Ministry of Justice Rodion Gustiuc said the ceiling of fines for private individuals rises from 150 to 500 conventional units, while for legal entities from 500 to 1,500 conventional units.

Also, the new fines stipulated in the Contravention Code take effect. For example, the exploitation of vehicles with the steering wheel on the right side of the longitudinal axis, except for vehicles in international traffic, will be punished with 9 to 15 conventional units and three penalty points, while the exploitation of vehicles with the tinted windscreen or front door windows with 12 to 24 conventional units.
