Controversy around Liberal faction leader in Municipal Council
Ion Gabura was selected leader of the Liberal Party's faction in the Chisinau Municipal Council, according to Liberal councilor Oleg Cernei. However, Ion Gabura denied the information for Info-Prim Neo. Another PL councilor, Teo Carnat, confirmed that Gabura was one of the candidates, but the final decision hasn’t been made yet.
“Today, at 10:00 AM, the municipal faction meeting took place. The party leader, Mihai Ghimpu, attended it as well because of the last week’s speculation that there was a conflict between me and Gabura regarding the election of the faction leader, which is not true. I wasn’t there, but as far as I know, Ghimpu proposed Gabura’s candidacy”, Oleg Cernei told Info-Prim Neo.
“We’re still discussing. A final decision is yet to be made”, said Teo Carnat.
On Monday, July 18, at the CMC’s constituting meeting, PL asked for a 10 days pause to announce its municipal faction leader.
Ion Gabura was previously a councilor of the Christian-Democratic People’s Party. He left PPCD at the end of January 2010.
