Contribution period will increase for men

Starting with July 1, the contribution period necessary for obtaining the right to pension for men will increase by 6 months. Thus, men will have a right to pension only after a 31-year contribution period, the retirement age remaining the same – 62 years of age, reports Info-Prim Neo. This amendment was made last year after several addendums to the Law on pensions from social state insurance. In every following year the mandatory contribution period for men is increased by 6 months. The retirement age for women in Moldova is 57. For the complete calculation of women’s pension a contribution period of 30 years is necessary. For a partial pension, both men and women need a contribution period of, at least, 15 years. Meanwhile, starting July 1, the retirement age for public employees is being increased by 6 months: 58 for men and 53 for women. The retirement age for public employees will be at 62 for men and 57 for women, in 2020. Additionally, in the calculation of pensions for public employees (as for pensions for the age limit) the total contribution period is being increased, which from July 1 will be 31 years.
