Contradictory statements about search at home of lawyer Ana Ursaki’s parents

Lawyer Ana Ursachi, who is accused by prosecutors of complicity in a murder committed 20 years ago, said that prosecutors illegally searched her parents’ home last night. The Prosecutor General’s Office confirmed that a search was carried out, but said that the operation was performed legally, IPN reports.

In an online news conference, Ana Ursaki said prosecutor Dumitru Stefirta, assisted by police officers, entered the apartment at night without a search warrant issued by court. “They turned off the power supply from the baffle board on the stairs. When my father opened the door, they broke into the house. The prosecutor performed the search in the absence of a lawyer and after 10pm, which is banned by law,” stated the lawyer.

Ana Ursaki denied the reports that a number of video recordings discrediting politicians were found during the search.

The lawyer considers the case started against her and the search carried out last night form part of a scenario of acting prosecutor general Eduard Harujen, which is designed to impress Vladimir Plahotniuc in the struggle for the post of prosecutor general.

Dumitru Stefirta denied Ana Ursaki’s accusations. “Everything was done in accordance with the law,” he stated.
