The hidden goal of President Igor Dodon’s visit to Moscow was to discuss the federalization of the Republic of Moldova based on a document that is not known by the public opinion, said politicians invited to the talk show “In Depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel. Another politician said this document was drafted based on recommendations formulated by the OSCE, IPN reports.
Deputy chairman of the Liberal Party Valeriu Munteanu considers Moldova’s federalization was the main goal of President Dodon’s visit to Moscow. “Personally, I asked in the Cabinet’s meeting that Zinaida Grecheanyi should be excluded from the delegation. She is the leader of a political party that pleads for federalization. It was evident that Moldova’s federalization was the key of this visit. Igor Dodon became involved in exercises that are not within his power,” stated the Liberal heavyweight.
Liberal-Democratic MP Vadim Pistrinciuc said Dodon left to Moscow with a secret federalization plan. “The situation is serious because they discuss a so-called roadmap that was not made public. In the news conference held in Moscow, Dodon said he came with a document that was consulted with everyone. This is not true. The Transnistrian issue should be resolved, but not without the people’s participation. I’m afraid there are some hidden commitments between Dodon and the current government, aimed at distracting attention from particular problems,” he stated.
Socialist MP Vladimir Turcan said Dodon referred to a plan for settling the Transnistrian conflict that was drafted by the Socialists three years ago in accordance with a document worked out by the OSCE. “Everyone had access to this document. You should not scare the people with federalization and that territories will be lost, etc. Those who are not interested in having the Transnistrian dispute resolved scare with federalization. Have you heard a German or a Russian complain that they live worse because of the federalization?” he asked.
