The weather-damaged portions of the roads recently rehabilitated under the government’s “Good Roads” Program will be repaired by the same contractors. They will also cover the costs if they want to avoid being blacklisted, stated Vladimir Cebotari, the Democratic Party’s campaign manager and vice president.
Speaking on TVC21, Cebotari explained that the roads broke up here and there because their rehabilitation continued into the cold season, which saw abundant snow. However, the Democrat promises the contractors will take care of it. “I’m more than positive that the contractors are themselves interested in repairing those portions, because this year we intend to rehabilitate 2600 more kilometers of roads, and the contractors surely don’t want to end up blacklisted”.
Commenting on the controversy around the promised salary raises, Cebotari says that in some cases public employees saw their paychecks slashed because local authorities decided to withdraw some bonuses. “The second cause – we are being sabotaged. There are heads of institutions who support some other parties. In some cases paychecks were deliberately delayed for several days on the pretext that there wasn’t enough money”. A third cause, according to Cebotari, are accounting errors due to the novelty of the program and, finally, some categories of public employees are simply not covered by the program.
