The grant contract for the construction of the Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline between the authority managing the Joint Operational Program Romania - Moldova - Ukraine for 2007-2013 and the National Agency for Mineral Resources of Romania has been signed. The €7 million contract is financed by the European Union.

According to a communiqué from the Government, Moldova will receive €3 million for interconnecting the gas networks. The works are set to start on August 27. The event will be attended by the Prime Minister of Moldova and Romania, Iurie Leanca and Victor Ponta.

The works will be completed at the end of this year.
