Contract for commercial exchange of electricity with Romania signed

The transport and system operators Transelectrica and Moldelectrica signed a contract that enables to allocate capacity for commercial exchanges of electrical energy on the line of interconnection between Romania and the Republic of Moldova. The commercial exchanges of electrical energy will start immediately after the completion of the whole process that includes the harmonization of technical details and commercial aspects. The first electricity transactions between Romania and the Republic of Moldova are planned for this October, IPN reports.

“The successful completion of the process of selling electrical energy in the interconnection between Romania and the Republic of Moldova is a commitment of support between the two transport and system operators and this also contributes to developing and ensuring the proper functioning of the electricity market at European level,” Transelectrica says in a press release.

On March 16, 2022, the electrical energy systems of Ukraine and Moldova were interconnected with the European energy system.
