Contraband cigarettes discovered in train
A batch of contraband cigarettes to the value of about 34,000 lei was found in the international passenger train running on the Chisinau-Bucharest route, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the press office of the Ministry of the Interior, the cigarettes were to be taken to the European Union. The police seized the about 3,700 packs of cigarettes without documents of origin. An investigation is under way.
Recently, a newspaper in Romania's Suceava said the successive rises in the prices of cigarettes make many Romanian smokers purchase contraband cigarettes from ambulatory traders. Most of these cigarettes are smuggled from Moldova.
