Contraband cigarettes discovered at two customs posts
Three attempts to smuggle about 12,000 packets of cigarettes have been foiled during the last 24 hours, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Customs Service.
7,000 packs of cigarettes have been found in a Mercedes Sprinter minibus with trailer at the Sculeni customs post. They were hidden in a special place in the front part of the trailer.
The officers of the Cahul-Oancea customs posts discovered over 2,000 packets of cigarettes in the protection bar and reservoir of a Mercedes car. Another 3,000 packs were found in the dual floor of a Mercedes at the same customs post.
According to the Customs Service, from August 10, 2010 the contraband identified at customs posts can be seized, under the amendments made to the Code of Administrative Offenses.
