Over 38,000 cigarettes hidden in three vehicles were seized at the Leuseni-Albita customs post. The cigarettes were to be sold in Romania, IPN has learned from the Customs Service.

On the European market, the cigarettes value about €6,000. They were hidden in the padding, torpedo, lateral wings, and other places specially designed for transporting contraband cigarettes.

The three drivers aged between 30 and 34, who are all from the municipality of Chisinau, explained that the means of transport do not belong to them and they used them based on powers of attorney. Thus, they know nothing about the hidden cigarettes.

The three men were fined 1,500 lei each, while the cigarettes were confiscated.
