The continuation and acceleration of the European integration process in Moldova is the only chance for developing Moldova’s economy, the Democratic Party’s candidate for President Marian Lupu stated in a program on RTR Moldova, which also involved his main opponent in the presidential elections Igor Dodon.
According to Marian Lupu, namely the necessity of continuing the pro-European reforms made him run for President. “The idea of European integration, the continuation of this course that envisions first of all the country’s economic development, jobs and development of agriculture is the only chance for our economy,” stated the candidate.
Marian Lupu said he will never make compromises in this regard. The sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova, which, according to him, cannot be subject to discussions, is the second key theme. In this regard, he made reference to Igor Dodon’s program that suggests federalizing the Republic of Moldova, which he described as very dangerous. “I will not make compromises as regards the sovereignty, territorial integrity and unity of the Republic of Moldova. There are serious tendencies, declarations and intentions in this regard,” he stated.
On the other hand, Igor Dodon said he will follow the federalization path despite the criticism leveled at him.
As to the first decrees that he will sign if he is elected President, Igor Dodon said he will sign a document to ban unionist movements and the History of Romanians in schools, even if he admitted that the Head of State does not have such prerogatives.
Marian Lupu said that if he is elected to the office of President, he will first of all sign and promulgate the most important documents and will then create an international commission to miniport the justice sector reform.
This was the first TV debate program that involved Marian Lupu and Igor Dodon, who are considered the favorites of the electoral race.
