Moldovan architects and designers are invited to think up projects to transform Chisinau into “a city of lights”. The continuation of contest “Evening Chisinau – city of lights”, which is organized by the Agency for Monument Inspection and Restoration, will be announced on March 3. The Agency’s director general Ion Stefanita made the announcement in a news conference at IPN on February 19.
The continuation of the contest will be announced in the ceremony to award the winners of the first edition. This time the participants will be requested to suggest ideas for artistically lighting a building that is very important for Chisinau and that wasn’t featured in the 11 projects proposed at the first edition, three of which were selected as winners and will be implemented this year.
According to Ion Stefanita, the funds for this project were earmarked in the municipal budget of Chisinau. They total 1 million lei. The type of buildings will be announced on March 3. The award ceremony starts at 6pm.
The project proposals chosen at the first edition of the contest “Evening Chisinau – city of lights” envision the artistic lighting of the facades of the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History, the National Palace “Nicolae Sulac” and the National Opera House “Maria Biesu”. Before being lit, the facades of these buildings will be renovated. The budget of the project is €550,000.
