The General Division of Culture and Cultural Heritage of the Chisinau Municipal Council has launched a contest of plastic solutions for the bust with a pedestal in memory of Nicolae Dabija. The monument will complete the sculptural complex Alley of Classics in the Public Garden “Stephen the Great and Holy”. Proposals will be accepted by October 4 and the results will be made public ten days later, IPN reports.
The contest is open to Moldovan sculptors and aims to identify a sculptural concept that will immortalize the personality of the writer, literary historian and politician of the Republic of Moldova, honorary member of the Romanian Academy and corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova Nicolae Dabija, said the Chisinau City Hall.
The contenders can be individual authors, teams of authors or legal entities, licensed in the field of construction design and monumental creation. They will submit the competition project (drawings, model or sculptural model, etc.) to the organizer’s chancellery or will send it by registered mail/courier.
The jury, made up of well-known sculptors and specialists in the field, will choose the winning concept. The sculptural concept will represent the bust made of bronze, a pedestal made of red granite in accordance with the dimensions/stylistics and artistic outfit of the busts that form part of the Alley of Classics. The text |Nicolae Dabija 1948-2021” will be inlaid into the pedestal.
