Contest to fill seat on Discrimination Council announced

The legislative body has announced a contest to select candidates for the post of member of the Council for the Prevention and Elimination of Discrimination and Guaranteeing of Equality, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the legislature’s press service. The candidates must have an irreproachable reputation and a tolerant attitude towards the minority groups, not to have a negative and diminutive attitude on human rights and not to have made statements that undermine the indivisibility of the human rights for everyone. The applicants must also have worked in the field of human rights protection for at least five years. The applications can be submitted between December 20 and January 19, 2013. The Council consists of five members that belong to no party. They are named by Parliament for a five-year period. The Council for the Prevention and Elimination of Discrimination and Guaranteeing of Equality is a collegial body with the status of public law legal entity that was founded to ensure the protection against discrimination and the equality of all the persons who consider themselves victims of discrimination.
