The commission for conferring the National Award initiated the process of selecting the awardees of this year. The candidates are fielded by the competent ministries, creation unions, sports federations, the Academy of Sciences f Moldova, universities and by laureates of the National Award and State Award, IPN reports.
According to the Government’s press office, the recommendations concerning candidates for the contest and their files will be presented to the commission, which is based in the Government Building, by July 29.
The National Award is conferred on private individuals and groups of authors for remarkable accomplishments, for contribution to promoting the country’s image abroad and for having a considerable impact on the technical-scientific and socioeconomic progress and on the national and world culture.
The National Award was instituted with the aim of recognizing and encouraging research, scientific and technological development activities and of stimulating achievements in arts and sports. Each year, on Moldova’s Independence Day, the Government presents ten National Awards to the value of 100,000 lei.
