Contest to choose Youth Capital opened

The local public authorities are encouraged to apply to the Youth Capital 2024 contest. The wining locality will receive about 1 million lei in financial support from the Ministry of Education and Research for implementing projects intended for the youth. The deadline for applications is October 31, IPN reports.

National Youth Agency director Ion Donea said the Youth Capital program is designed for the local public authorities with fewer opportunities of investing in the youth sector. The municipality of Chisinau and the localities that held the Youth Capital title the last three years are not eligible to compete.

The local public authorities will complete an application form to show who they managed to mobilize at the local level (youth centers, youth organizations, the private sector that wants to invest in the youth sector). They should demonstrate their own contribution to this program, including the financial contribution planned for 2024. Possession of spaces for the young people to organize different activities is welcomed.

The areas of financing will refer to various youth programs, projects regarding the civic sprit and youth engagement in decision-making, social innovation and community development initiatives.

A commission of the National Youth Agency and the Ministry of Education and Research will examine the submitted files and will name the winner in about two weeks.

The municipality of Ungheni was the Youth Capital in 2023. The municipality also held his title in 2011, when the program was at its first edition.
