The Chisinau City Hall announced a contest to select contractors for repairing six streets in Chisinau. Bids can be submitted to the General Public Transport and Communications Division by February 12, 12.00, IPN reports.
Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca told a news conference that the project envisions the extensive repair of Stephan cel Mare Boulevard and the streets Constantin Negruzzi, Vasile Alecsandri, 31 August, Tighina, and Alexandru cel Bun. There will be rehabilitated the roadway and sidewalks, set up parking lots and modernized the street lighting.
“Those who will apply to take part in the contest must meet strict requirements,” said the mayor. The bids can be submitted by contractors that over the last three years had an average annual turnover of minimum €15 million. The applicants must have own financial resources or credit lines of €1.5 million and experience of work within at least three large urbanistic projects as main contractors. The mayor assured that there will be cut only the trees that may fall down.
The streets will be repaired within a project financed by the EBRD and EIB with €22 million and the municipality with €8 million. The works will be carried out in two stages. The first will cover the period between the spring of 2014 and the summer of 2015 during which there will be repaired three streets of 6.5 km. The project will last for 24 hours, while another 12 months will be spent on identifying and reporting defects.
