Contest of admission to USMF Stomatology Department on budget-funded places was stiffest

The total number of files submitted in the original to “Nicolae Testemițanu” State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF) this year was by 20% higher than last year. Of the total number of 1,667 files, 1,266 were submitted in the original, which enabled to fill all the budget-funded places and most of the places available on a contract basis. The contest of admission to the Stomatology Department was the stiffest (10 places) – 35.6 persons per place. The results of the final contest of admission to bachelor’s, integrated and master’s programs of study were published by the USMF, IPN reports.

“Despite the young people’s tendency to migrate to study abroad, we yet believe that medicine and pharmacy are two areas that necessitate the young people’s presence at home. Our university copes with the demand and all the challenges. We are always ready for continuous development and the main factor is that at our university, the studies are of a high quality, modern and this contributes to increasing the number of candidates who chose “Nicolae Testemițanu” University of the Republic of Moldova and decided to study in the country,” stated Vladislav Badan, responsible deputy secretary of the admission commotion.

After Stomatology, among the most popular specialties on budget-funded places were: Physiokinesiotherapy and Medical Rehabilitation (5 places) – 9.0 applicants per place; Pharmacy (10 places) – 5.9 applicants per place; Medicine (440 places) – 1.7 applicants per place; General Medical Assistance (10 places) – 1.6 applicants per place; Optometry (5 places) – 1.4 applicants per place; Radiological Technology (10 places) – 0.7 applicants per place, and Public Health (10 places) – 0.3 applicants per place.

The largest number of applications for master’s programs was submitted to Public Health Management and Human Nutrition.

An additional admission session will be held at “Nicolae Testemițanu” University during August 8-11 for 51 unfilled contract places: eight places for the Pharmacy integrated higher education program and 43 places for the bachelor’s programs – six places for Optometry, 19 places for Public Health, 5 places for General Medical Assistance, and 13 places for Radiological Technology.

The University’s admission commission will also hold an additional session of admission to master’s higher education (cycle II), where nine places on a contract basis remained unoccupied: three for the Human Nutrition program and six for Public Mental Health.

The admission plan this year envisioned 500 budget-funded places for bachelor’s and integrated studies, by 50 more than last year, including 25 places intended for applicants from the eastern districts of the country, 678 places on a contract basis and 57 places for master’s higher education.
