Contest for mass media on human rights promotion

The United Nations Office in Moldova has announced a contest for the best promotion of human rights in mass media during October 2008 – October 2009, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a communiqué, the institution says that the contest is open to journalists, non-staff reporters, local and national TV channels, radio stations, newspapers, news agencies, informational portals. The materials must deal with the observance of human rights, promotion of gender equality and women’s rights, protection and promotion of human rights, the principles and basic rights at work. The print media outlets can submit up to three investigative articles or another five materials (articles, reports, interviews), the news agencies and informational portals with the status of periodical publications – up to 10 informative materials (news, reports, interviews); the TV channels – up to five programs or five reports; radio stations – up to five program sor five reports, and the CV of the participant. The deadline for applications is October 15, 17.00. The results of the contest will be made public at a gala on December 10, on the International Human Rights Day. The contest is organized by the UN Representative Office in Moldova with the participation of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), the International Labor Organization (ILO), the International Organization for Migration (IOM Moldova), the European Commission and other organizations promoting human rights in Moldova.
