Journalists are invited to take part in a contest centering on the work of the Interparliamentary Assembly (IPA) of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) between March 10 and June 30. The contest was launched in a news conference at IPN.
Eugeniu Stirbu, director of the Chisinau branch of the International Institute of Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection for the Citizens of the IPA CIS Member Nations, said the organizers aim to award the best work about the activity of Moldova’s Parliament and the parliamentary delegation at the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly.
The contest is designed to stimulate the media to cover subjects concerning the main functions of Parliament – representation, legislation and control – and the work of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly and the Moldovan delegation.
Chiril Lucinschi, head of the Parliament’s commission on culture, education, research, youth and mass media, said the contest is open to authors of materials published or broadcaster through the media at national, district or town levels, regardless of the legal-organizational form of the institution - TV, radio, news agency - and of the age and experience in the field.
The contest has several nominations: Print Media, Television, Radio and Electronic Media.
The applicants must submit at least four materials between March 10 and June 30 to the email address iv_alina987@mail.ru. The winners will be selected by a jury consisting of 13 persons who are experts in the mass media, employees of the Secretariat of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, representatives of NGOs and public figures.
The award ceremony will be held in September. The authors of the most representative materials will receive mobile phones and dictaphones.
The contest is organized by the parliamentary commission on culture, education, research, youth and mass media, the Secretariat of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly and the Chisinau branch of the International Institute of Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection for the Citizens of the IPA CIS Member Nations.
The meetings of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly are held in Saint Petersburg.
