Consumers will be disconnected from network in ten days of prenotice

The consumers who do not pay on time for electric power could be disconnected from the power supply system in ten days of the day the receipt of the prenotice from the electric power supplier is confirmed in written form. A bill to this effect was adopted by Parliament in two readings, IPN reports.

Those who will not obey the terms will face penalties in the form of a fine of up to 1,250 lei in the case of private individuals, of up to 2,500 lei in the case of persons holding responsible posts and of at most 5,000 lei in the case of legal entities.

According to the authors, the Socialist MPs, the bans are necessary in order to harmonize the legal framework. The law is aimed at supporting the consumers of electric power affected by the COVID-19 crisis that influenced people’s incomes, while the reconnection to the network implies additional costs.
