“Consumer Protection” calls on consumers to more actively protect their rights

The public association “Consumer Protection” calls upon the consumers to be more active when it goes to the protection of the own rights. “Dear consumers, if you do not take part and further behave passively and you vote again for such persons as Maia Sandu and persons from her company, nothing good will happen,” “Consumer Protection” chairman Piotr Guțul stated in a news conference held to mark the 19th anniversary of the founding of the association, which was hosted by IPN.

Piotr Guțul noted that the government for many times violated the law on consumer protection. “I filed a complaint against the President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu, the head of the legal commission for appointments and immunity Olesea Stamate and “Teleradio-Moldova” Company for violating the law on consumer protection. The TV channel “Primul în Moldova” was obliged to offer broadcast time each month,” he stated.

According to the association’s chairman, on September 28 the complaint was registered in the Appeals Court for being examined at the Supreme Court of Justice. No response came yet. The head of the legal commission for appointments and immunity Olesea Stamate said that she submitted this complaint to “Teleradio-Moldova”, but didn’t receive any response. The Appeals Court examined the complaint in the absence of the public association “Consumer Protection”. So, the association is preparing the documents for filing this case to the European Court of Human Rights.

Another complaint was filed against Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, the administration of the National Agency for Energy Regulation and Termoelectrica over the violation of the law on consumer protection. “A decision was taken recently and based on this the consumers who are no longer connected to the centralized heating system have to pay bills of 500 to 1,000 lei a month for pipes that go through their homes. But there is a Constitutional Court decision providing that such a practice is illegal,” stated Piotr Guțul.

“Dear consumers, 26,000 persons have autonomous heating systems. You should come to our organization together with the received bills and write an application,” said Piotr Guțul, addressing the consumers.
