Consumer prices up 5.9% from January
The consumer prices have increased by 5.9% since the start of this year. The consumer price index in May was 100.1% on April and 107.9% on May 2009, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the National Bureau of Statistics.
The prices of nonfood products in May rose by 0.3% from April, of the services by 1.2%, while of food products by 1%.
The price of onion grew by 5.1%, of carrots – by 4.3%, of citrus fruit – by 2.6%, of fresh fruit, sugar, ice-cream, candies and chocolate – by 1.2% each. The eggs were cheapened by 35.1%, nonalcoholic drinks – by 8.7%, fresh vegetables – by 4.9%, the milk and milk products – by 1.4%.
Among nonfood products, the pricesof summer footwear for women increased by 2.7%, for men– by 5.0%, for children – by 7.7%, of the tobacco products – by 2.4%, of drugs – by 0.8%.
The gas charges grew dearer by 6.0%, the heat charges – by 4.6%, the water and sewerage charges – by 1.7%, the services in kindergartens – by 1.5%.
The charges for transporting passengers by planes decreased by 5.0%, while the prices of the services provided by travel agencies – by 2.1%.
