Disputes between consumers and traders could be resolved free and out of court. The MPs gave a second reading to a bill that institutes a consumer dispute resolution mechanism without mediation and arbitration in the national legal framework, IPN reports.
The bill to amend the law on consumer protection was drafted by the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitization. The sponsors of the bill propose instituting alternative dispute resolution (ADR) as this instrument is more flexible and quick and offers benefits both to consumers and traders.
A body responsible for alternative dispute resolution will be created at the State Inspectorate for Nonfood Products Surveillance and Consumer Protection. ADR entities will have to meet a number of quality criteria, to ensure impartiality, transparency and equity, while the dispute resolution period will be 90 days.
