The Cabinet approved the creation of the National Statistics Council, its composition and the activity regulations. The Council will be a consultative statistics body that will work under the Government to develop strategies and promote official statistics, IPN reports.
The main duty of the new body will be to formulate recommendations concerning the improvement of the national statistical system in order to better satisfy the necessities of users.
The Council will consist of 11 members who will represent the central statistics authorities, specialty bodies of the central public administration that produce official statistics, the academic community, the National Bank of Moldova, employers and civil society.
