Consultations in the 5+2 format are set to take place in Vienna this week. The preparations for consultations and the results of the summit of the OSCE Foreign Affairs Ministers that was held recently in Helsinki were discussed at meetings between Reintegration Minister Vasilii Sova and the Special Representative of the European Union to Moldova Kalman Mizsei and between the Minister and the US Ambassador to Moldova Asif Chaudhry, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the press service of the Reintegration Ministry, the officials expressed readiness to continue making determined efforts, despite the existent difficulties, to promote the settlement process, including the resumption of the talks in the 5+2 format so as to achieve evident results. They stressed the importance attached to the stimulation of the activity of the working groups designed to build confidence and strengthen security as this would contribute to the improvement of the social and economic situation on both banks of the Nistru and to the promotion of the negotiations on the formulation and adoption of a special legal status for Transnistria, by respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova. At the meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council that took place in Helsinki on December 4 and 5, the EU member states and the United States expressed their support to Moldova in its efforts to solve the Transnistrian dispute.
