Through music, dance, congratulations, whishes of prosperity, overviews of achievements and plans for the future, construction professionals celebrated on Friday, August 8, the Constructors’ Day. The event brought together some 1,200 professionals, Info-Prim Neo reports. Pavel Caba, the president of the Federation of Constructors, Road Workers and Manufacturers of Construction Materials CONDRUMAT, remarked that the event was held to thank the construction professionals for their daily work, and also to highlight the necessity of this sector for the social and economic development of the Moldovan society. Today the construction sector in Moldova develops at a booming pace and the number of constructions rises constantly due to strong investment in this field, which leads to better living standards in the country, says Caba. Though the sector is apparently thriving in Moldova, there is a need for more financial resources, including investment, in this sector, remarked Vasile Lipcan, the manager of a construction firm. The ceremony was an occasion to honor the top-20 construction professionals with diplomas and money prizes. The Constructors’ Day was celebrated in a concert featuring the band Catharsis, Nelly Ciobanu, Constantin Moscovici, the folk dance ensemble Martisor, the accordion band Concertino, Serj Coston, and Lenuta Condurache. The festivity was organized by social partners in the construction sector, the Constructors Federation CONDRUMAT, the Ministry of Constructions and Territorial Development, the Constructors’ Trade Union Federation SINDCONS, and the INMACOM Concern. The event was attended by Prime Minister Zinaida Greceanyi. The Constructors’ Day has been celebrated each second Sunday of August since 1994. In the last five years (2003-2007) the amount of investments in the building industry in Moldova rose by four times to reach 15 billion lei towards the end of this interval. The share of FDI in this sector rose tenfold in this period.
