Constructions Ministry to run Republican Stadium
The Government has decided to transfer the stocks of SA “Stadionul Republican” and its territory on Tighina street in Chisinau from the Sports Agency to the Constructions and Territorial Development Ministry, Info-Prim Neo reports.
First deputy premier Igor Dodon has said the Government set up a joint venture to build the stadium, earlier this. The partner is a Belgian investor working for some time in Moldova. But, although 7 months have passed, nothing has been done. Different problems have emerged, including financial ones. They have found it's problematic for the investor to finance the construction works, what makes it impossible to build the stadium in 1- 2 years.
“We have decided to give the object to be managed by the Constructions Ministry. It will announce a transparent contest to select projecting and building firms,” Igor Dodon. said
According to the Economy Minister, the budget can yield money for the stadium, as well as international donors, as FIFA, can.
Dodon says the Government will reimburse those 7 million lei to the companies having demolished the stadium. At Wednesday's sitting of the Government, it dismissed Andrei Cimili from the position of head of the Sports Agency.
