Construction of the Solid Waste Processing Plant postponed
The construction of the Solid waste Processing Plant was postponed at least until the next session of the Chisinau Municipal Council. The issue was included several times on the agenda of the CMC, but it was never examined. Although it was included on the Wednesday agenda it was not examined because the person in charge to report missed.
The CMC will approve the signing of a contract with an Italian company (STR “Engineering Consulting” Ltd) which was given the right to build the Solid Waste Processing Plant in the municipality of Chisinau.
“Engineering Consulting” proposes investments amounting to EUR 200 mln and the implementation of the project within 2 years, the works being planned to start immediately after the CMC will grant 10 hectares of lands and will approve the project documents.
The members of the tender commission selected the Italian company out of 6 bidders. It proposes to process the solid waste through obliteration, which means separating the organic waste from the ones which can not be processed and to produce biogas and electric power.
The investor will be obliged to collaborate with the local salubrity and waste evacuation management. The Plant is planned to be constructed nearby the urban waste disposal plant, located near the Chisinau-Bubuieci roadway.
