Construction of houses for flood victims starts on August 23

The works to build houses for flood victims will begin on August 23 and last by the start of winter, Prime Minister Vlad Filat said Monday in a field working meeting centering on the flood relief efforts in Nemteni village, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Government's press service. The Premier reminded that the flood victims can choose from among three options – to be bought a house, to be purchased a house or to receive compensation for the lost property. Vlad Filat said the Government identified the financial resources needed to pay compensations to the persons affected by floods, stressing that the speculations in this respect are inadmissible. The head of Hancesti district Anatol Chetraru said the plots on which the houses in Nemteni and Cotul Morii will be built have been prepared and the building works can start immediately after the construction companies are selected. He also said that local commissions started to work in Cotul Morii and Nemteni. They assess the damage caused by the floods to houses. The Premier was informed that some of the shops in Nemteni groundlessly increased the price of bread by 0.25-0.75 lei. Vlad Filat instructed the competent bodies to launch an inquiry and identify the persons to blame. The Prime Minister said that those who lost their crops as a result of floods will be also compensated. A commission is to assess the losses sustained by the farmers. After the meeting held in Nemteni, Vlad Filat inspected the local levee that is under reconstruction.
