The Constitutional Court validated the seat of MP of Viorel Barda, a substitute candidate on the lists of the Party of Action and Solidarity. The Court took a decision to this effect at the request of the Central Election Commission on September 14, IPN reports.
Viorel Barda, who is a jurist by profession, became an MP after Zinaida Popa tendered her resignation, choosing to keep the post of councilor on the Chisinau Municipal Council.
Also, PAS will have five new MPs after Parliament last week accepted five resignations, of Natalia Gavrilița, Andrei Spînu, Sergiu Litvinenco, Dumitru Budianschi, and Rosian Vasiloi.
Natalia Gavrilița vacated her seat because she was appointed Prime Minister. Three PAS members decided in favor of posts in the Cabinet. Andrei Spînu serves as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Dumitru Budianschi as Minister of Finance, while Sergiu Litvinenco as Minister of Justice. Rosian Vasiloi was named head of the General Border Police Inspectorate.
According to the list of substitute candidates for MP, the PAS parliamentary group will be joined by Ana Calinici (jurist), Evghenia Cojocari (teacher), Boris Popa (jurist), Ana Oglinda (doctor) and Dorel Iurcu (economist).
The Central Election Commission has the initiation of the procedure for validating a number of seats of MP on the agenda of its September 14 meeting.
