Judge Victor Puscas maintains that Dumitru Pulbere should be discharged from the post of chairman of the Constitutional Court. He made related statements after a meeting where the magistrates examined his application. For his part, Dumitru Pulbere admits that he was wrong when he made statements for the press in the name of the Court, not in his name. The Constitutional Court will announce its decision on September 28, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The working meeting of the Constitutional Court was tough. We spoke in a collegial manner. They told me I made the statements in the name of the Court, but I said that these are my assessments as a judge and as a jurist. I based my statements on the practice of the Constitutional Court and on the Constitution of Moldova. I’m grateful to my colleagues for their observations,” Dumitru Pulbere stated after the meeting, saying he will not resign. Victor Puscas told the reporters that they discussed mainly the statements made by Dumitru Pulbere, including the fact that “the Parliament has violated the Constitution during two years” and that “the time limit for electing the President expires on September 28.” “He made political statements and thus I demanded that he should resign. If he will not, he should be discharged,” he stated. Victor Puscas also said that he never wanted the post of Constitutional Court chairman as Dumitru Pulbere asserted earlier. “Even if this post is vacant, I will not apply for it,” said the judge. A meeting of the Constitutional Court is considered legally valid if it is attended by four judges. The chairman can be dismissed by a majority of the votes of those present.
