Constitutional Court sanctions Vladimir Voronin
The Constitutional Court described the open letter sent by MP Vladimir
Voronin, the leader of the Communist Party of Moldova, to it on
September 6 as interference in its jurisdictional activity, it is said
in a communiqué from the Court, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
In its September 7 meeting, the Court adopted a decision in this
respect, saying some of the expressions from the letter represent
attempt to exert pressure on the Court’s judges in connection with the
examination of the application to interpret Article 78 of the
Constitution, which describes the procedure for electing the head of
state by Parliament.
The Constitutional Court is to pass judgment on the given case on
September 20.
