Constitutional Court asked to examine law on border treaty with Ukraine
The Christian Democratic People's Party (PPCD), represented by ombudswoman Tamara Plamadeala, appealed again to the Constitutional Court, asking that it examines the constitutionality of Law No. 348 whereby the State Border Treaty between Moldova and Ukraine and the additional protocol were ratified, Info-Prim Neo reports.
After filing the application, Tamara Plamadeala said the treaty violates the right to movement and the right to property of the inhabitants of Palanca village.
The application submitted by the PPCD earlier was sent back for being completed.
Ghenadie Vaculovschi, the party's vice president, said the PPCD asked the Constitutional Court to check the constitutionality of the mentioned law because it produces certain effects and imposed obligations on Moldova.
Tamara Plamadeala said the the residents of Palanca do not have access to the 7.77 hectares that they own as that area was ceded to Ukraine under the State Border Treaty between the two countries.
“If our application is rejected, we will ask the court to pronounce on the way in which the human rights are respected,” the ombudswoman said.
The Constitutional Court is to make a decision on the application within six months.
